We look forward to seeing you soon. SLAINTE!
Poor Angus is headed to Nova Scotia for Stanfest in Canso. We will be taking a bit of a vacation together and doing some travelling while there, from Cape Breton to Yarmouth. When we return, our new album, Prime Cuts, will be available. You will be able to get it at our shows, from Fogarty’s Cove Music, Amazon.ca, and on iTunes. See you this summer on the road!
“WaterFire’s one hundred sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the firetenders passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of Waterplace Park.”
This Providence, Rhode Island event has selected Slackers’ Jig by fiddler Andrew Bryan, to be part of the official soundtrack of this amazing event. CLICK HERE to head to i-tunes and listen to this song, and the rest of this award winning album. Don’t have itunes? You can order directly from Fogarty’s Cove Music.
Recording of the new Poor Angus album “Prime Cuts” is complete. Expect a release sometime in the middle of June! This album contains a broad range of Poor Angus work and includes fan requested pub favorites, Highland bagpipe original tunes, original fiddle tunes, an acapella, a trad uilleann pipe piece, a Stan Rogers song, a contemporary original song and two beautiful ballads. We’re mixing and mastering now and very excited about the work we’ve come up with for you. Keep checking back here, or on facebook or myspace for updates!
Along with the new website, we will be releasing a new website. This site will be much nicer than the current blog format, and will feature multimedia and a much more polished image that is more in keeping with the bands’ polished music. Stay tuned!
The Ontario Arts Review saw Poor Angus playing with Jeremy Fisher and The Proclaimers at the Hamilton Convention Centre, and wrote THIS REVIEW.
Reviewer Susan Chapman writes “whether it was the warm weather, the flowing suds in glasses, or the toe-tapping music of these excellent performers, the fans were more than ready to sing along and raise a glass of good cheer!…They are entertaining on stage; and in person…true down-home types.”
Our self-titled cd, which has just begun radio airplay, has received 3.5/4 stars in the Toronto Star arts section. Extoling the virtuostic instrumentals, the cd was also noted for it’s strong vocals and Scott’s songwriting. So, what are you waiting for…YOU BUY!
